Terrance Meyers Professional Corporation, operating as Achieve Legal (“we”/”us”/”our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its clients. This privacy policy covers your use of this website (https://www.achievelegal.ca), its subdomains (i.e. https://*.achievelegal.ca), and the contact information that we supply (collectively, the “Site”).

Site Operation and Third Party Resources

The Site is operated within the Google Cloud suite of services, including G Workspace, Google Sites, Google AdSense, Google Analytics, Blogger, Google Chat, Google Meet, and other services provided by Google. The Site uses Cloudflare for Domain Name related hosting services and analytics. Cloudflare’s compliance information can be found here: https://www.cloudflare.com/compliance/

Your interaction with us through our social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) is governed by their respective terms of service and their privacy policies.

Your access to our private client portals is provided through Tabs3’s Cosmolex, whose security features are detailed at https://www.cosmolex.ca/features/enterprise-grade-security/.

Data Collection

The following personal data may be collected on the Site:

  • Contact information: your name, telephone number, and email address;

  • Business information: information respecting matters on which you instruct us or in which you are involved;

  • Social media: posts, Likes, tweets and other interactions with our social media channels;

  • Technical information: IP address, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plugin types and versions, operating system, device type, hardware model, MAC address, unique identifiers and mobile network information; and,

  • Online data: information about your visit including source and destination URLs, dates and times visited, information about your network as such as information about devices, nodes, configurations, connection speeds and network application performance, pages viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, length of visits, and interaction information.

Any data collected is stored within the servers of the relevant third party described above and is protected by secure, unique logins using two-factor authentication where appropriate and encryption as detailed by those parties.

Data Use

We do not share your data with other third parties. Your data is used for the following purposes:

  • Service provision: schedule appointments, receive and store information respecting your matters, and to provide legal services to you when retained;

  • Communication: contacting you with respect to service provision or appointments or to keep you informed with respect to legal developments;

  • Legal compliance: client due diligence as required by Canadian, Albertan, or Nunavut laws;

  • Website monitoring: to check the website and our other technology services are being used appropriately and to optimize their functionality; and,

  • Online security: protecting our information assets and technology platforms from unauthorized access or usage and to monitor for malware and other security threats.

Personal data about others

In some cases, you may provide personal data to us about other people (such as your customers, directors, officers, shareholders or beneficial owners). You must ensure that you have given those individuals an appropriate notice that you are providing their information to us and have obtained their consent to that disclosure.

Security

We will hold your information securely in line with physical, technical and administrative security measures. However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted and any transmission is at your own risk..

Where will your information be held?

Your information is stored among the providers identified above. We make efforts to restrict the storage to Canadian servers, but cannot guarantee that all information is stored accordingly.

How long do we keep your data?

We generally keep your information as needed to provide our legal services and to deal with claims. This will depend on a number of factors such as whether you or your company or organisation are an existing client or have interacted with recent client mailings or bulletins or attended recent events. We will retain your information as necessary to comply with legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Direct Marketing

We may use the information you give us on our website or other means for direct marketing purposes to provide emails, newsletters and other messages to keep you informed of legal developments, market insights and of our services including events that we think may interest you.

You can opt-out of receiving direct marketing from us at any time by notifying us by e-mail.
